I started Shiva Gals after losing my mother very unexpectedly. Experiencing that sudden, profound grief firsthand made me realize just how vital the Jewish tradition of Shiva truly is, it provided the essential spiritual and emotional anchor I needed during my darkest moments. However, I also experienced the massive disconnect between a family's deep need to mourn and the overwhelming logistics required to host a traditional shiva home.

I created Shiva Gals to keep this beautiful tradition alive while intentionally lifting the operational burden from grieving families and their closest circles. By managing the logistics of catering, setup, hosting, and cleanup, we ensure that family, friends, and the community are freed up to focus on their single most important task: comforting the mourners. This service gives families the sacred emotional space to honor their loved one and begin healing, without the distraction of running an event.
