Having lost her mom far too soon and ushering several friends through the darkness of similar sudden losses, Shari (Schraber) discovered a profound sense of satisfaction and contentment in being able to provide comfort to others during their time of mourning. A social worker by training and catering sales director at Create Catering by happenstance, Nicky (Metchnek) brings a unique blend of experience and passion to Shiva Gals. While practicing social work, she found the most fulfillment helping clients process grief and loss. Getting back to a measure of that work while using her years of experience planning and executing events is a great way to marry her skills and compassion for others. As dear friends for close to 20 years, Shari and Nicky started Shiva Gals to be able to offer families in the Twin Cities the peace and support that they need as they begin to heal after loss all while wrapped in the traditions of their Jewish heritage – a familiar place of comfort.
